Park en kit
On the occasion of Les Quatre jours de la jeune création, as part of Marseille 2013 European Capital of Culture, Wagon Landscaping designed Par[k] en [k]it, an ephemeral garden installed in the upper courtyard of Fort Saint-Jean. Conceived as a park to be assembled, the project functions both as a garden and as a scenographic device, capable of hosting artistic creations and live performances, by day and by night.
The garden offers a contemporary, graphic and vegetal exploration of the Mediterranean. It is composed exclusively of elements intended to form a future park: plastic barrels used for water storage, forest seedlings, bamboo stakes and timber beams. Assembled in a clear and reversible manner, these components create a temporary landscape that openly embraces its constructive and experimental nature. Three large shade structures organise the space and stage plant palettes around three themes: the Mediterranean oak woodland, plants that accompany human activities, and Mediterranean species from around the world.
At the end of the festival, the entire garden is dismantled. The elements are then reassembled in October 2011, with the participation of students from the Marseille School of Landscape Architecture, to create a natural space on the hills at the edge of the city. Par[k] en [k]it thus anchors the ephemeral within a lasting trajectory, where the garden is understood as a process rather than a fixed object.
Les éléments du kit ont été démontés après le festival et remontés en octobre 2011 avec l’aide des étudiants de l’École du paysage de Marseille pour aménager un espace naturel aux portes de Marseille.
