Rock’n Rock - stade de france -St denis
Around the Stade de France station, the Rock’n Rock project proposes the installation of urban rock gardens with varied forms and at different stages of vegetative colonisation. This ephemeral garden is part of a cultural activation strategy developed ahead of the opening of the Grand Paris Express stations. The rock gardens stage the vegetal reconquest of urban environments and reveal growth dynamics that are often invisible at the scale of the city.
The structures are built from reused materials sourced from nearby landfill sites. Inert waste from demolition processes forms the structural framework of the gardens.
The plant palette is composed of species adapted to poor soils, capable of thriving without irrigation and with minimal maintenance. It demonstrates the ability of vegetation to colonise constrained environments and to transform waste into fertile substrates. Rock’n Rock thus asserts a landscape approach based on reuse, economy of means and close observation of natural dynamics, in which the materials of the city become the foundations of a contemporary garden.
